Is that even legal? Can we simply organize ourselves, declare independence ans self govern?

Well, current territorial monopolist states would disagree. Luckily, we have a widely accepted legal document, that helps: the declaration of human rights.

And if you actually read the declaration of human rights, you can find: yes, we definitely have the right to self-govern and declare independence and form independencies.

Here’s how the legal argumentation goes:

The essence of a self governed, collaborative group of people forming an independency is (aside from joint rules and a constitution) to source services together.

Typically such services are very expensive and therefor it makes sense, to source them together, as a collaborative effort, where everyone contributes to the best of their abilities and that benefits all.

Services, like safety/security for its people, a joint healthcare systems, generation systems for education / retirement, social security systems, etc.

The base for any organized society and civilization are rules. The base for all rules is a constitution, which states the least common denominator for the organization of the group.

The constitution in a democracy is the most essential common agreement between all citizens, ideally owned, concieved/created, direct democratically ratified by the people.

Here is the „reduced to the max“ version of such a constitution and an esplanation, why we don’t need more, than two priciples: Freedom & Equality:

A political state, ideally, is a collaborative social structure, with the goal, to provide services for its citizens.

The original idea of a democracy was, that this state is controlled by the people, for the people.

Since this idea collides with todays territorial monopolies that modern states are, to establish true democracy, we have to think differently: how can we find, enable, implement a system of self governance, that does not depend on any territorial monopolists?

The motivation behind independence4you.org is simple: choice is better, than monopolies and competition forces providers to delivers better, more cost effective and efficient services, than monopolistic structures.

However, one territorial monopolistic structure is widely accepted: political states. They are defined by mostly irrelevant (in a global civilization) borders, fought over and defined by wars. The humans living within these borders are monopolistically economized and controlled by the state owning the territory.

Most such states are either called „democracies“, when in truth they are lobbyistic bureaucrannies (tyranny of bureaucracy, controlled by lobbies) or autokratic tyrannies (defined „tyrant“ at the helm) or something in between.

Now imagine self governance of compatible people, without regards for borders or territorial monopolies. This is, what independence4you.org envisions.
